NEIKER-Tecnalia, Basque Institute of Agricultural Research and Development, is a non-profit public agency dependent on the Basque Government.
NEIKER occupies a key position in the agro-food industry, as its activities are mainly aimed at developing R&D projects related to food production and quality.
The results of these activities contribute to the permanent improvement and innovation of the food sector by promoting programmes to preserve and enhance native dairy sheep and cattle, improve food quality (Idiazabal Cheese, new varieties of potato, the use of micro-algae in food, Eusko Label beef, etc), as well as developing and assessing sustainability indicators in the farming, stockbreeding, and food sectors.
