SALICA INDUSTRIA ALIMENTARIA, S.A.
SALICA was set up in Bermeo through the merger of two traditional family canning businesses from the early 20th century, the Campos sisters and the Astorquiza. In 1991, they decided to merge, establishing the Sociedad Alimentaria Campos y Astorquiza (SALICA).
Group Albacora joined this venture in 1994, forming a group of companies that currently has 3 plants around.
The mother plant is in Bermeo and specialises in Albacore tuna preserves in cans and glass jars, tuna belly and adding value. Puebla de Caramiñal is home to the plant that specialised in frozen tuna and world customers are served from Ecuador.
Our great challenge is to be able to transmit all our commitments to customers when the open one of our cans: A commitment to food safety, to the quality and flavour of our products; to the environmental and social sustainability, and to fishing, our main resource; as well as to health and a healthy lifestyle.
